April 10, 2010—Rock’n’Roller Coaster News!
Disney is again trying different ‘queueless’ methods of waiting to ride Rock’n’Roller Coaster, at Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World! This new waiting system is going to be tested in a few different areas of the Disney theme parks. It is planned for the new Dumbo attraction at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World, part of the huge Fantasyland Expansion. Mar 28 – Walt Disney World Character Meet and Greet News!
The next time you are at the Magic Kingdom, look for my very favorite nanny, Mary Poppins, along with Bert, near Cinderella’s Golden Carrousel, in Fantasyland. They will be meeting and greeting guests soon! Mar 27 – Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom News!
Town Square Exposition Hall, in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World is undergoing a major renovation. The work will start on April 2, 2010. The theatre space is being converted into a Character Meet and Greet area. Due to the extent of the renovations, the AAA Storytime Experience is being moved to a yet announced area at Epcot. The retails area at the front of Exposition Hall will remain open. Starting on March 25, 2010, through April 20, 2010, the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon will be open for lunch, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Dinner will be available from March 25, 2010, through April 7, 2010, 5:00 pm to 8:0 pm. The dinner features western tastes, and is all you can eat. The Wishes Dessert Party, located at the Tomorrowland Noodle Station, is coming back on March 28, 2010! This should be available to book now, through Disney Dining. Mar 27 – Walt Disney World Epcot News! There is definitely a pier being built for seating at Cantina de San Angel. It had been rumored that this would be a new perfect seating area for Illuminations. Actually, it appears to be in an area where there is fallout from the fireworks. So, most likely this will be an area used only for lunches. An Illuminations Dinner Show would be perfect, please? The Living with the Land boat ride has a new feature! They put a babbling brook in the first greenhouse. The work was completed during third shift, so did not impact guests at all. “Toy Story – The Musical” will be replacing “Aladdin – A musical Spectacular” in to the Hyperion Theatre in Disney’s California Adventure park sometime early in 2011. Aladdin will close on August 15, 2010. Mar 21—Star Wars Weekend Guests Announced! Disney has announced the line up of guest stars for Star Wars Weekends at Hollywood Studios. May 21-23 -- Temuera Morrison, Daniel Logan, and Dee Bradley Baker Mar 21—Epcot Dining News You will see a construction wall at Mexico, in The World Showcase, at Epcot. The Cantina de San Angel is expanding and it is now reported that it will be bother counter service, and sit down. There will be 400 seats at this restaurant, and it will be split pretty much in half, as far as type of dining. Part of the seating for this venue will be outside, and it is rumored that the outside area may close earlier than the inside. The sit down portion of this restaurant is guaranteed to be a perfect viewing spot for Illuminations. Mar 17—Hollywood Studios Character Meet and Greet News! If you are looking to see Winnie the Pooh, and his friends, with a trouble added in, Piglet, Pooh, and Stitch will begin meet and greets again by The Sorcerer's Hat in Disney's Hollywood Studios beginning in May 2010. This sounds like lots of fun! Mar 17—Fantasyland Expansion News! Mickey’s house and Minnie’s house, from Mickey’s Toontown Fair, will not be eliminated, as previously considered. Disney has nto decided where they will go, but they will find a home for them in the new Fantasyland. Mar 17—Magic Kingdom Character News There has been a change of who is in the show at The Hoedown in Fontierland at Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. Replacing Woody and Jessie are the Country Bears and characters from Splash Mountain (Brer Rabbit, Brer Bear, Brer Fox), who will be dance along with dancers and park guests to Frontierland style music. Mar 12—Walt Disney World Pet Care Disney will be opening a very unique facility at Walt Disney World, to provide pet hospitality services. These services will include boarding, grooming and doggy day camp. There will be special amenities such as luxury suites with television and raised bedding. Special pet activities will feature nature walks and playgroups, and your pet will have the chance to experience pampering services that will range from ice cream treats to bedtime stories. The facility will be operated by Best Friends Pet Care. Mar 12—Fantasland Expansion—Permits Walt Disney World is in the middle of preparing work for its Fantasyland expansion. They pulled permits for three princess areas, Cinderella’s Chateau, Belle’s Village and Aurora’s Cottage. They also now have permits for some of the demolition that will be happening with this project. Notice was filed, also, to build a new restaurant and gift shop area. It is presumed this is for the Be Our Guest Restaurant, or Gaston’s Tavern, which will be in the beauty and the Beast area. These areas are all part of the first phase of the expansion, along with the much awaited ride based on the Little Mermaid.. This first phase is scheduled to open in 2012. The second phase, an area anchored by Tinkerbell, is scheduled to open in 2013. Mar 12—New Monorail Look Disney is sprucing up the monorails, and you will see a Tron theme on all the cars soon at Walt Disney World. You should start seeing these cars this month. Mar 12—Premier Passport Disney has announced that they will be selling a new type of ticket. This ticket will be known as a Premier Passport, and will give the guest admission for one year to all of its United States theme parks, in Walt Disney World and in Disneyland California. This includes the two water parks, and Disneyquest, in Walt Disney World! The cost for this new admission will be $700.00, plus tax. There is no child price, all tickets price the same. You will find merchandise and food discounts available, too. The same Annual Pass resort room discounts will be available, as are with just Walt Disney World, or Disneyland Annual Passes. They are available for purchase now. Mar 5—Downtown Disney Downtown Disney is welcoming two new stores, a quick-service restaurant and 3D technology to the AMC Pleasure Island 24 theater. The new 3D technology has already debuted, when Alice in Wonderland opened today. AMC Entertainment upgraded auditorium 1 to be the first Enhanced Theater Experience (ETX™) in the United States. The ETX auditorium includes a 20 percent larger, floor-to-ceiling screen, 3D technology, 12 channel audio and digital projection that delivers higher resolution that HD. RIDEMAKERZ ® was such a success at the Downtown Disney® District in Disneyland in California, Disney will open a new retail entertainment experience on the Westside of Downtown Disney. This is a limited time engagement. This store will integrate full-sized cars and a supercharged interactive experience that lets guests build, customize and trick out their very own radio-controlled vehicles. Kids of all ages will be able to satisfy their need for speed with over 649 million ways to create a mean machine. RIDEMAKERZ will open March 25 through fall 2010. D Street, a new apparel store where urban inspired product “intersects” with a Disney creative edge will also open on the West Side and showcase a mix of products for both men and women. Building on the existing popularity of Trend-D at the Marketplace, D-Street will include edgy apparel, pop culture novelties, Vinylmation™ figures and collectibles, artwork, handbags, accessories, jewelry and more. Opening in April, the store will feature a raw, unfinished industrial look and provide a great venue to showcase Disney art created by local artists. A new restaurant is opening this fall at Downtown Disney’s Marketplace. Pollo Campero is an international Latin chicken quick service restaurant. Keeping with the Latin theme, you will find drinks, delicious side dishes and Latin beverages. You will find several sugar free options, low sodium, organic offerings, and gluten free options as well. Watch Our Laughing Place for reviews on this restaurant. Mar 5— Sounds Like Summer Concert Series The America Gardens Theatre (map), in the American Adventure Pavilion at Epcot, is host every year to The Sounds Like Summer Concert Series. The series of concerts features “tribute” bands that cover a variety of music by popular artists. In 2010 the concerts start on June 12, and run through July 31. This schedule is subject to change. June 12 – June 19: Stayin' Alive (Bee Gees) June 20 – June 26: Hotel California (Eagles) June 27 – July 3: TBD July 4 – July 10: Satisfaction (Rolling Stones) July 11 – July 17: Slippery When Wet (Bon Jovi) July 18 – July 24: 2U (U2) July 25 – July 31: Beginnings (Chicago) Showtimes are 5:45, 7 and 8:15 p.m. nightly, except July 4 shows which are scheduled for 5:15, 6:30, 7:45 and 9 p.m. Mar 1— Castle Couture! 'Tinker Bell’s Fairy Treasures' , the little store in the Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland, is closed for remodeling. The store will reopen in late March, and will be part of ‘Castle Couture’, offering Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique guests a Photopass location where they can have photo portraits done. The newly crowned princesses won’t have to go to Exposition Hall on Main Street USA for their package photo. The merchandise available at the former ‘Tinker Bell’s Treasures’ will be next door in castle Couture. Making room in Exposition Hall for Character Meet and greets, while Fantasyland is rebuilt, is part of this plan. |
